RIDM screening / CAM on tour
20 February 2012
The RIDM, with the Montreal Council of the Arts on Tour, are proud to present L'imposture.
Degraded, violated, disgusted, depressed… Sex workers eventually get fed up. Prostitution, however, is a vicious circle—and much easier to fall into than it is to get out of. In this latest film by Ève Lamont (Squat, Pas de pays sans paysans), the filmmaker tackles the world’s oldest profession, spending a year following a group of teens and women who are trying to turn their lives around and reintegrate into society. It’s a long and lonely struggle—made harder by the lack of social programs to assist in the rehabilitation process and the fact that their sole support comes from community organizations. The film depicts the women’s perilous journey along a road that may well save their lives… or lead to a deadly conclusion.
Director, Ève Lamont, will be available to answer questions after the film.
