Docville - summer of Giacomo may 31

MONTREAL PREMIERES OF THE YEAR'S BEST DOCUMENTARIES
The RIDM is coming back May 31st with the screening of Summer of Giacomo from the director Alessandro Comodin.
Summer in northwestern Italy. Giacomo, 19, who has been deaf since childhood, and his friend Stefania, 16, go down to the river for a picnic. As if entering a fable, the two teenagers get lost in the woods and stumble upon a secluded, idyllic spot where they are free to enjoy an afternoon that seems to contain a whole summer. What follows is an exploration of the senses: even though there’s no touching, their childish games revolve around the sensuality of skin and breathing. Eventually, Stefania and Giacomo come to the realization that their shared adventure is but a bittersweet echo of a time long past. Winner of the Golden Leopard at Locarno, the Grand Prix at the Belfort Festival and of the Cinema Italiano award at Florence’s Festival dei Popoli, this story of love and coming of age is a pure cinematic pleasure.
