Le voyage silencieux
el viaje silencioso
Canadian Premiere
For her first feature film, Marie-Eve Tremblay, accompanied by DP Vincent Biron, chose to train her camera on the border between the United States and Mexico. Her project of getting to the bottom of illegal immigration between two countries with a shared 3,500-kilometer border is an ambitious one. Avoiding geopolitical analysis, the filmmaker examines the lives of the people directly involved in the situation. American volunteers trying to help illegal immigrants lost in the desert, longtime immigrants who for years have taken refuge in American cities and representatives of law enforcement all give a human face to a nationwide problem that is subtly laid bare in the film. A successful first effort!
